Global Ministries BUILD room for God around the world
Fall 2019 update
Just as we are BUILDing room for God at CSC to serve the community and help people in need, so too are the Global Ministry BUILD projects being designed with a missional intent – to build bridges between communities and churches or ministry centres through purpose-built space.
Ten per cent of all funds raised to BUILD more room for God will go towards construction projects of churches and/or ministry/training centres on five continents around the world. We are excited to share how God has been using our BUILD funds to advance initiatives in SE Asia and in Ukraine!
SE Asia Update
Our donations to BUILD more room for God are helping to support the persevering church. This means that our capital funds are not just going to build churches that are a visible statement of Jesus’ presence in the community, but also to support communities of believers that are persecuted and forced to worship and gather underground.
In one country in SE Asia, Christians are being heavily persecuted – their Bibles are being destroyed and replaced with alternative texts espousing political ideology, and the pastors of house churches require more Bibles and training to offset these attacks on the persevering church community.
BUILD funds have been put towards resourcing a training centre to provide Bible training to house church pastors, verse by verse and chapter by chapter, so they can go back to their communities and
replicate scripture with other pastors and church members. With God’s help, our BUILD more room for God projects have supported the resourcing of this training centre with beds, projectors for viewing, air
conditioning units, desks, computers and a library.
BE PRAYING that God would continue to give the persevering church boldness and strength to share the Gospel while keeping the scriptures in tact. Pray that His Spirit would continue to touch all the lives of the house church pastors and the Christians they disciple in creative access countries.
Ukraine Update
Earlier this year we shared about a church being constructed in Rivne Ukraine. Now, including the church in Rivne, there are four churches in various stages of development in Ukraine being supported by BUILD more room for God funds, in partnership with Humanitarian Aid Response Team (HART). Two of these churches are being built to transform lives in poverty-stricken gypsy villages, Kherson and Berezhany. They will be used not only as churches but as a community centre and a school where people will learn how to read and write. Now, when we send Bibles to these centres, people will know how to read them.
During our Global Ministry services on the weekend of October 19/20, we shared how God is moving through the lives of local believers in Novotroitskoe and in Rivney to construct the church in Kherson, one stage at a time. This is part of our vision with HART to engage local people to build churches in Ukraine so they are able to take ownership of the facilities and experience the joy of being a part of this transformative work in their community. The construction began in 2018 and has continued into 2019.
The building consists of 11 rooms in total, four of which will be suites for guests from afar, as well as a worship hall, classrooms and offices. The construction is not yet finished and much work has yet to be done. They call the facility Eben-ezer which means Hiterhto hath the Lord helped us.
BE PRAYING that these constructions projects in Ukraine will be completed in a safe and timely manner. Pray they will produce good fruit for God’s Kingdom in the communities in which they are built and that
God would bless the lives of those local believers who are stepping out and giving of their time and resources to make these church dreams a reality.
