Updates and prayer requests

Central Campus:  We are excited to report that the Development Permit for our Central Campus expansion has been conditionally approved! One of the conditions has not yet been fully defined and we are working with the city to obtain clarity. Construction drawings are nearing completion with some fine tuning ongoing with staff and ministry engagement. Budget and consultant reviews continue to determine the most economical approach to fulfilling the requirements of the new energy code while having the least impact to the project budget. Additionally, a sustainability consultant has been engaged to review potential Energy Cost savings measures for the current facility at Central Campus, although any suggested changes to the existing facility would not be required under the expansion.

NW Campus: Concrete footings, walls, supporting columns & the elevator shaft have been poured. There is one supporting column that will need to be hammered out and replaced. The basement is being levelled and gravelled and then form work for the main floor slab will be built & could be ready by Mid-December. There will be two pours of the main floor slab where temperatures will need to be zero or higher during the day, so the dates are weather dependent.

Work on underground utilities is complete.  Site grading in what will be the parking area is essentially complete, some further work will be required in the spring. Much soil / clean fill has been removed from the site and further amounts may need to be removed, however, that process is delayed to warmer weather in the spring. At that time, if necessary, we will offer free fill again.

The tender process for Northwest building construction is being done in stages. Earthworks & concrete contracts were issued late spring and the tender process for some portions of building construction is ongoing. Structural steel work tenders came in under budget! Praise be to God! Other portions are delayed for various reasons, including weather. We believe the delays have been from Gods guiding hand.

Global Ministry Construction Projects: Ten per cent of all funds raised to BUILD more room for God are going towards construction projects of churches and/or ministry/training centres here and around the world. We are thankful for the updates provided in mid October. Continue to pray for Global Ministries as they seek the Lords leading for other projects.

Prayer requests:

  • Praise the Lord for the conditional approval of the Development Permit for our Central Campus. Pray that He would guide the process of obtaining clarity and then lifting the conditions.
  • That weather conditions are good. Costs trend higher as the weather gets colder.
  • Praise the Lord for providing a structural steel contractor under budget. Pray for all those involved in the tender process, and that the right contractors will be available at the right price
  • God’s hand in our plans for Central Campus and that He would guide us to manage the budget well. Pray that He gives the sustainability consultant special insight as they review potential energy cost savings of our existing space.
  • Pray for positive relationships to continue with neighbours at both Northwest and Central.
  • Pray for our neighbours at the Northwest site who were affected by the June 2019 rain / flood events. Pray that CSC would be able to BUILD healthy relationships with them. Pray for the insurance adjusters as they review the situation.
  • Safety of all workers.
  • God’s presence on the construction sites of churches/ministry centres in construction projects here and around the world.
