Updates and prayer requests

Call to action: Write notes of encouragement to people in need. Part of our BUILD projects include an expansion of our capacity to help people in need through a Centre for the City. As construction begins at Central Campus, we are already increasing food distribution for people struggling during COVID-19.  But we want to provide more than food. We want to show people the love of Jesus. We are accepting notes of encouragement that we would like to include with our hot meals which are being launched on July 22. Central Campus: Work is progressing on the first phase of the Central Campus expansion including renovations to the NE corner (Rehearsal room area), the Worship Centre (ceiling drywall removal, ceiling steel reinforcement, platform renovation), converting the south lawn into additional parking and reconfiguring the second floor office area to add two more meeting rooms. We expect work will soon begin on installing deep underground services in the North Parking Lot. Praise the Lord that a recent heavy rain storm has shown there is an opportunity to improve the design to mitigate or eliminate the risk of future flooding from that kind of storm.

NW Campus: Northwest site work continues to progress well. Roof deck installation is complete; now work is progressing on the roof insulation system. Steel Stud Framing is underway on the main level. Concrete has been poured on the second level and the retaining wall on the south of the building. Foundation piles are being installed at the main entrance and loading dock. Grading for the parking lot is underway. Landscaping walls are being installed. We anticipate holding the first services in this facility in early 2021.

Tenders: The tender process has been going well. The bulk of the Northwest contracts have been awarded. The initial contracts for Central Campus have been awarded and there are more contracts to review over the coming months.

Prayer requests:              

  • Pray for CSC leadership as they manage the impact that the COVID-19 Pandemic will have on the Church and on the BUILD project, that our Government Leaders will make good decisions about how to fight the COVID-19 Pandemic, for the scientists and researchers who are looking for a vaccine or other treatment, that many people will be drawn into the kingdom of God during this time.
  • Pray that as we begin construction to expand Central Campus and the Centre for the City, that God would bless our work in feeding people who are marginalized. Pray that the congregation would rise up to provide notes of encouragement to people in need so we can have an even deeper impact for Christ than food alone.
  • Pray that construction will progress significantly and safely during the summer months.
  • Pray that renovations and construction will proceed smoothly, so that the Central Campus Worship Centre can be ready for services as soon as possible.
  • Pray that concrete work in the Central Campus expansion can be completed before cold winter weather.
  • Pray that updates to the Central Campus design to mitigate flood risk will be received soon and that costs will be reasonable.
  • Pray for wisdom for future decisions about when to start further phases of Central Campus expansion.
  • Pray for all those involved in the tender selection process, and that the right contractors will be available at the right price.
  • Pray for positive relationships to continue with our neighbours at both Northwest and Central.
  • Pray for safety for all workers.
  • Pray for God’s presence on the construction sites at Northwest and Central, the Global Ministry sites.

The BUILD prayer team meets regularly rotating through our different campuses. During the COVID19 Pandemic these prayer meetings will be held online.
