November 2020 Update

We are excited about the progress we are seeing on the buildings and we invite you to celebrate with us and those who are in your circle of influence as we see our BUILD projects move forward. Below are a couple pictures showing progress at both sites.

The building progress is great!! But we recognize that this project is not about concrete and steel, it’s about US, you and me, the people, making more room for God in our lives so others can experience Him in their lives.

We would like to invite you to join us in impacting lives for Jesus during this pandemic by sending us your brief story of what God is doing in your life. Using our electronic form at https://www.buildmoreroom.ca/build-more-room-for-god-during-challenging-times/ provide us a brief story and optional photo. You only have to pick one sentence (one theme) for your story (but you may choose more if you feel God leading you to provide more). If you have any questions about this initiative. Thank you so much for prayerfully considering this request, as God leads you.

COVID-19 presented seasons of vulnerability, of trusting God and huge growth in our projects to BUILD room for Him. We see God’s timing as the pandemic gave us an opportunity to advance major Central Campus renovations while we weren’t using a large portion of the facility, and to demonstrate that many in our culture search for answers only God can provide. Not only do we see more people being drawn to Him as they seek security and purpose, but we also experience the joy of serving Him throughout the pandemic.

Serving while building
Part of our BUILD more room for God projects includes the Centre for the City, a facility in our Central Campus expansion that will increase our capacity to help people in need. Over the summer and fall we provided prepared meals and hampers to over 1700 households each week. Together as a church we created over 2000 notes of encouragement which have been included with the meals every single week, reminding people of God’s love for them.

As COVID-19 continues to challenge all of us in different ways, we are encouraged by stories of people continuing to BUILD room for God in their lives. Let us BUILD each other up with these stories! Our new virtual story wall reminds us that God will BUILD in us and through us during this journey. We encourage you to share your own story that it may encourage others. Please visit www.buildmoreroom.ca/virtual-wall to read these stories and click on the link to encourage others by submitting your own story.

Financial snapshot
As of September 2020, we have received $12.4 million towards our BUILD projects, 10 per cent of which continue to go towards the construction of churches and ministry centres locally and around the world.

As reported in our previous BUILD update, we made the prudent decision to proceed with Central Campus in stages when COVID-19 hit this past spring, giving us the flexibility to proceed with future phases as funds become available. Phase 1 (estimated $21.5 million) will build and enclose the expansion. Remaining phases (estimated $8.1 million) will build out the specific rooms and renovations required on each floor. Construction milestones
Despite some delays in construction work and material delivery due to COVID-19 and flooding events, this past summer and fall we advanced projects to BUILD more room for God in our Northwest and Central Campus construction.

Phase 1 excavation for Central Campus was completed and foundation piles installed. Major concrete work is now in process. This fall we celebrated the completion of our new parking lot on the south lawn, and renovations to the worship centre, bringing the 18-year-old facility up to new building code standards while also addressing known barriers to improve the gathering and worship experience for our congregation. We anticipate Phase 1 of the Central Campus expansion to be complete in the first half of 2022.

A new permanent facility for our Northwest Campus is inching ever closer to reality. Dry weather helped us make good progress on Northwest landscaping walls. The roof and parking lot are complete. Work is progressing on the interior including steel stud framing, drywall, plumbing and electrical rough-ins.

This fall and winter, more than ever we want to be sharing stories and testimonies about how God is moving in our lives and in our church. Stories encourage us in our walk with God, especially during uncertain times. Your very brief 1-2 paragraph story can help point somebody to God, or remind them of God’s faithfulness in challenging circumstances. Using your stories, we want to remind and encourage people with the knowledge that He continues to BUILD His church in us and through us.

The importance of prayer
Thank you for your ongoing prayers for the ministry of Centre Street Church; during this season of BUILD thank you in particular for your prayers for the project. We invite you to visit this link (https://www.buildmoreroom.ca/pray) for a brief construction update and a list of prayer requests.
