August 2023 Update

God is good! This is the year we get almost double the square footage at Central Campus and we’re excited to see what He will do with those spaces, in us and through us! Our Central Campus expansion opening is right around the corner – although it won’t happen until after the ministry year starts up in September, we are prayerfully confident we will move in this Fall!  Please join us in praying that all final construction activities and deliveries go smoothly, and that the occupancy permit is approved without delay.

Did you know?

God has been bringing more people to Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, and other discipling ministries across CSC this past ministry year! Once the expansion opens, we will have the space to serve the children, but will we have the people? We estimate 20% growth in our Children’s Ministry in the first few weeks following the expansion opening. That’s on top of the growth we have already been experiencing this year, with up to 50+ children turned away at some Sunday 11 am services. But growth may only be temporary if we have to turn children away due to lack of volunteers.  We encourage you to sign up for one of many volunteer roles needed to supporting discipling the next generation in His church. Below watch Buki’s story (aired this past May) and be inspired by how God has blessed her in her journey as a Children’s Ministry volunteer.

Additionally, we want to thank all volunteers who helped us clean the new spaces last month! We will still be needing more rounds of cleaning over the next couple of months. These are this month’s top construction updates:
  • The main floor washrooms at Central Campus are being renovated. Alternative washrooms are available – learn more here.
  • Flooring in many areas is complete. Ceramic tile flooring in some areas is continuing.
  • Exterior concrete sidewalk installation is continuing.
  • Operable stages (which move out of the way when not in use) have been installed in the gym.
  • Painting and installation of doors, door frames and door glazing (windows) continues.
  • Connections between the existing facility and the expansion are being developed, including the expansion of the chapel.
  • Installation of a second entrance to the south parking lot from 38 Ave has begun.
  • Renovations in the SW corner of the existing building will begin sometime this fall, after receiving the occupancy permit for the expansion.
  • Interior work continues including steel stud framing, insulation, drywall & taping, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, millwork/cabinetry, flooring and primer/paint.
  • We are starting to clean portions of the expansion in preparation for occupancy.

Children’s Ministry is like a garden!

"When the children are there, and the message, or craft might pertain to something I’m going through, and I begin to feel like – was this for the kids or was it for me? …. This is like a garden in Children's Ministries. You get to plant the seeds and then you watch the seeds grow, you watch the kids begin to know God, begin to ask questions. You get to search the Bible with them. You learn. They learn. And then they take that away. That seed is planted. You get to be a part of that. Isn’t that exciting?”

Finance Update

We are grateful for how, through your generosity to June 2023, God has provided $20.6M (Chapter 1 $15.7M, Chapter 2 $4.9M) leaving $4.9M remaining in our Chapter 2 goal. We still have a way to go to reach our goal. Thank you for continuing to pray and persevere with us in our journey to “complete the work,” physically, spiritually, and financially, in the spirit of 2 Corinthians 8:11.
