Children, Youth, and Families

BUILD more room for children and their families

GOD WILL … DRAW CHILDREN TO HIMSELF Children are our future and God is moving in their hearts at our church. Our Children’s Ministry has a mission to partner with families to help children hear the voice of God, so that in His timing they can respond to Him and become fully devoted followers of Christ.

THE NEED

Before we moved into our new expansion, we sometimes had to turn away up to 50 children from Children’s Ministry at Central Campus due to lack of space and volunteers.

Youth Ministry is also experiencing a new season of renewal and growth. Each month, all our campuses come together for a Youth Summit and will use small, medium and large purpose-built spaces, including the gym, to grow in our relationships with each other and with God!

These spaces are now equipping annual all campus events and Ministries like CSCamps, CrossOver Sports and Family Fest, drawing thousands of people across the city. Also, weekly children’s discipleship programs like Awana tripled in registrations with more space and volunteers!

The other day, my four-year-old daughter started telling me the story of ‘the boy who shared his lunch’. She went on to tell me the story of Jesus’ miracle with the loaves and the fish. I know she learned that story in Children’s Ministry because we had not told her that story in that way. Raising children to be followers of Jesus sometimes feels like an impossible task in our culture today and it’s a blessing to know that my wife and I are not doing that alone. The Children’s Ministry provides proof for my kids that God is moving in many people’s lives and changing many people’s hearts. I praise God for our church’s Children’s Ministry, I am thankful for the volunteers and leaders that are walking with us on our mission to our children!

BUILD solutions for children, youth and families

Once our BUILD journey is complete, both our Bearspaw Campus and Central Campus expansion will feature:

  • Gyms for youth and young adults to enjoy gathering and ministry opportunities including Crossover Sports Ministry where many may “cross over” to life through fun, belonging and loving communities of Christ followers.
  • A play structure for families to connect while children play. Many of these families may be people from the community who do not yet know Christ. Some of these families will include people coming to our Centre for the City for help – single parents, new Canadians or families in poverty. Some families may be Christ followers eager to connect over coffee after a service or ministry event.
  • Expansion of Children’s Ministry space providing larger spaces accommodating worship and games for all ages, and small or medium classroom spaces for age-appropriate discipleship of smaller groups.

One Sunday, a mom came up to me and told me that Children’s Ministry had changed her family’s life. Her daughter was invited here by a friend and after attending the grade-four group, she was captivated by Jesus. She accepted Christ and then began to tell the rest of the family about Jesus. She ended up leading her family to Christ and now they are attending this church!
