An idyllic winding path are just some of the beautiful final touches to the landscape of our new home. It also represents how God has led us through every dip and turn on this journey. We are so grateful for your continued prayers and giving as advance our journey to BUILD more room for God at Bearspaw Campus, and our Central Campus expansion. Below is the December 2021 update. 

 

New Giving Goal

We celebrate how God has moved in the first three years of our BUILD journey. We closed Chapter 1 of our giving journey in August 2021 with $15.7M received. Praise the Lord. 

We are stepping into Chapter 2 of our giving journey and we are very encouraged by our response to our new giving goal as a church and how God is moving us to be generous as shown here. In case you missed the latest on our new giving goal, here it is in a nutshell: after experiencing cost increases and undertaking further cost clarifications over this past summer, we shared that our new Chapter 2 giving goal is $9.8M. The remaining construction is expected to take about two years, and if giving to the projects continues at the current rate, the project could be fully paid in about three years. 

 

Bearspaw Campus

We are praising God for the attendance we are seeing at Bearspaw Campus! We believe this is a clear affirmation of the importance of our journey to BUILD more room for God in our buildings. Although COVID restrictions are currently limiting our capacity, our attendance numbers continue to hover at around 500 which is double our post-covid attendance over the past 18 months and more than most of our services at our rental facility (pre-COVID). God is up to something big in northwest Calgary! 

The extended fall weather has allowed us to make good progress on the landscaping. The final landscaping wall on the west slope is complete, the regional pathway has been paved and sodded or seeded, the west slope has been graded and seeded (as shown in the picture below), and topsoil and sod or seed has been applied in several other areas. Unfortunately, some of the landscaping is deferred to next spring. 

Window blinds have been installed on the main and lower levels. We are working on cleaning up the site including moving or removing some of the construction materials. 

 

Central Campus

The green exterior drywall and steel studs are being installed. The flat portion of the roof will soon be fully covered, and the entire expansion will be tarped so it can be heated during the winter months. Plumbing and electrical rough-ins are being installed. Floor decking has been installed in the gym area and we expect to pour the concrete floors there in the coming weeks. Steel stairs have been installed. In the NE corner of the existing facility the elevator lift has been installed.

Importance of Prayer

Thank you for your ongoing prayers for the ministry of Centre Street Church, and for the BUILD journey thus far. As the BUILD project moves into the next chapter, we invite you to continue praying. 

  • Pray for our leaders and for the decisions that need to be made including the pace of moving forward. 
  • Pray about what role you might have in supporting the project through your prayers and as the Lord leads you, through your giving. 
  • Pray for safety on the construction sites and for the Project Manager and the Building Committee.
