September 2024 Update

September 2024 was a significant month in the life of our church and we give God all the glory! We celebrated the completion of our construction projects through a special month of prayer ending with a For The City Fun Day and our dedication weekend in which we, as a church, dedicated our new spaces at Central Campus to the Lord.

We spent the three weeks leading up to this profound weekend of dedication preparing our hearts spiritually and missionally by praying and encouraging “random acts of hope” and various ways that we could be “for the city” as part of our Centre for the City movement. Our prayer drive included a map with various parts of our city where we as a church family could pray for partners at our Centre for the City. If you didn’t get a chance to participate, you can still pray – see the prayer drive and map here.

In keeping with the missional purpose of our construction projects, on Sept 28 we invited the community for games, activities and food alongside our eight Centre for the City partners. During this event we brought special attention to our new Centre facility through a ribbon cutting, open house and media conference which was attended by Calgary’s Mayor Jyoti Gondek and the Hon. Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism Muhammad Yaseen. We also had people come and share their stories about how they were impacted by the Centre for the City.

Our purpose in these events was to have a public visibility opportunity that would bring glory to God, demonstrating the compassion and service of His people and the critical role of Christian faith communities, like Centre Street Church, in addressing the needs of our city through help, hope and a place to belong.

Update Videos

Through discipleship and community in Special Needs Ministry and Young Adults, Julia was able to discover deeper belonging and a deeper relationship with Jesus. That’s what these BUILD projects are all about – purpose-built spaces to facilitate deeper community and discipleship.

Importance of Prayer

Prayer of the month

We are grateful that our projects are now complete and that God has given us such a wonderful opportunity to show His love to our community and to our city and provincial leaders.

Pray that our Centre for the City grand opening will have a significant eternal impact on the community and the city and provincial leaders who attended. Pray that God will receive all the glory and continue to use us to impact our city!

Pray that our congregation would continue to give generously so that we can complete payment of these projects by Fall 2025!

Finance Update

Through your generosity to August 2024, God has provided $23.8M (including our giving in Chapter 1 $15.7M, and Chapter 2 $8.1M) leaving $1.7M remaining in our Chapter 2 goal. We are grateful! We are so close! Thank you for continuing to pray and persevere with us in our journey to “complete the work,” physically, spiritually, and financially, in the spirit of 2 Corinthians 8:11.
