We have global workers, agencies and partner churches all around the world. Here’s one story of how God is using a partner church to share the love of Jesus! .
One of the children that experienced the love and care of Jesus through our partner church is SR. SR is 11 years old, and the second youngest in a family of eight. His parents are aging and his dad spends his days walking their seven water buffalo to graze. They live in a remote village, among the breathtaking mountains of northern Nepal. SR’s life changed dramatically while he was taking a nap outside his home. An earthquake-induced landslide destroyed his family’s entire home and caused a large rock to strike his leg. He waited one day for help to come, and then a helicopter took him to get medical treatment in Kathmandu. SR’s leg was amputated below the knee after which he spent six months recovering in Kathmandu where he stayed in our partner’s facility. SR struggled emotionally and physically after his leg was amputated and was unable to return home because there is no access to the necessary medical care there. Instead he received holistic treatment from our partner. The team assisted SR with getting a prosthetic leg and teaching him to walk again. SR was greatly encouraged by the love and support he received and continues to learn about Jesus love for him.
In 2015 when the earthquake hit, our partner church had recently completed building an earthquake stable facility. The first quake occurred during worship and though terror reigned the building was safe. The church became the refuge for the neighbours and the community began to understand that the Christians are the ones who cared in their distress. When the floods happened in 2017 the believers in Nepal were again recognized as the only ones who had compassion as they helped the destitute and marginalized. God granted them favor and they were invited by the local leaders to lead many of the rescue responses during the floods. These two disasters provided a tremendous opportunity for believers to love people with the love of Jesus in areas where the vast majority of the population is from another faith.
